The diverse composition of Arqus ensures that the ensuing integrated community is in itself diverse in language, culture, academic tradition and global outreach.
This allows Arqus to ensure a multilingual and intercultural environment in which to share its initiatives in innovative learning and teaching, flexible academic offer, local and global engagement. Students and staff have access to a wealth of academic and cultural perspectives which provide a rich learning environment for them and facilitate the exchange of points of view and experience, and the development of intercultural competence for all.
We are a group of people working on making sure that all Arqus activities, resources and policies are accessible and inclusive, capitalizing upon the results achieved during the first three years of the Alliance, to learn from the challenges encountered, and to go beyond “enabling people” (the leitmotif of the first Arqus mission statement) by engaging the Arqus communities as actors of change towards a more diverse, inclusive and excellent University Alliance.
Multilingualism and interculturality are key in the Arqus Alliance. We want to enhance the language skills of our staff and students by promoting activities such as our famous Arqus Cafés, plurilingual summer/winter schools and online offers (such as courses, workshops, etc.)
In our web space we will also share resources and tools to foster autonomous, self-directed language and cultural learning. Tools for efficient and high-quality multilingual communication will be also offered here.
Arqus II will advance in joint flexible learning pathways, in innovative teaching, in enhancing the experience of early-stage researchers, and in synergies with its local eco-systems. It will promote three cross-cutting enablers: traditional and innovative forms of mobility for all; inclusion and diversity; plurilingual and intercultural competence for democratic culture.
