Arqus and the University of Lyon 1 encourage students, academic and administrative staff of Arqus universities to participate in this Teaching Innovation workshop in the design of inclusive educational videos. Join online on Tuesday 6 May, 14:00-15:30 CEST.

As part of the ongoing INCLUDE project, the University of Lyon 1 is taking significant steps towards a more inclusive learning environment by integrating digital tools into its pedagogical strategies.

This training workshop will be led by Juan Pablo Parra Torres and is open to a maximum of 16 participants.Rooted in the principles of Universal Design for Learning and digital accessibility, the training is based on a fully online Moodle course titled “Designing inclusive educational videos”. It aims to support educators in using video as a powerful, inclusive tool to enrich the learning experience.

Educational videos are increasingly recognised for their ability to engage students through diverse representations and formats. They can adapt to individual learning needs and support different ways of understanding, expressing, and participating in academic content. This workshop will provide practical guidance on scripting and designing video content that is not only engaging but also accessible to all learners.

Participants will:

  • Explore the benefits of educational videos for inclusive teaching
  • Learn best practices for writing scripts with inclusivity in mind
  • Gain insight into accessibility criteria and UDL principles for effective video design

This hands-on training session invites educators to rethink video content as a key component of inclusive pedagogy and offers tools to help them meet the needs of a diverse student body.
