21 Sep 2021The students who took part in the Arqus Winter School & Unipd Spring School “Rethinking Climate Risk: the Venice Paradigm” will participate in the meeting “Rethinking Climate Education” to present their experience on youth environmental activism (24th September at 12:30 – Teatro Ruzzante, Padua).
On 23rd and 24th September 2021, the University of Padua holds the first Youth Action Festival organized by the students and co-funded by the university. The Youth Action Festival aims to inspire citizens of all ages to view societal problems not as insurmountable, but as opportunities to rise to the challenges of the future.
This 2-day event emerges as a multidisciplinary initiative to support the spirit of community activism in Padua, the European Volunteer Capital in 2020, by involving young people through collaborative workshops with local businesses, institutions and individuals promoting sustainable development goals.
The debate “Rethinking Climate Education” will start with the presentation of the research report submitted by this group of students for the Arqus Spring School, and it will be focused on the steps students can take to become environmental activists in their local communities, and how schools, institutions and civil society organizations are providing young people with knowledge and inputs on local and global climate risks.
Attendance is open to the public. An intermediate fluency in the English language is necessary; however, live translation into Italian can be accommodated. For the best experience, registration for both event days is recommended.
