In the following you will find more information about the application and selection procedure. Deadline for submission of your online application for the first call aimed at doctoral students only is May 31, 2023 (23:59 CET).
The deadline for submission of the online application for the second call aimed at Master’s students only is June 30, 2023 (23:59 CET).
You must be selected or have applied for a Master’s or doctoral programme at one of the Arqus universities and have a minimum overall/average grade of B according to the ECTS grading system.
Please note that first-year doctoral students enrolled at Vilnius University and the University of Wroclaw can apply as well.
You must have a clear idea of how a mobility at a second Arqus university can be integrated into your study programme and elaborate it in your motivation statement.
You must also have a clear idea of how to participate actively in Arqus activities and act as an Arqus Ambassador. Please describe in your motivation statement what your role as an Arqus Ambassador could look like.
The Arqus European University Alliance assesses evidence of language proficiency in one of the languages of the Alliance from a level B2 according to the CEFR as merit.

Confirmation of application to the entrance university
You must provide a confirmation that you have applied/been selected for a Master’s or doctoral programme at one of the Arqus universities
Motivation statement
You will have to enter your motivation statement directly into the online application. We recommend that you write it in advance – max. 4,000 characters.
Please remember to also explain the format of the compulsory mobility and your active role as an Arqus Ambassador.
PhD research proposal (doctoral students only)
Please upload your PhD research proposal to the online application.
BA/MA diploma/degree certificate*
Please upload the diploma/degree certificate of your Bachelor’s or Master’s degree with which you applied for admission to the respective Arqus university.
Transcript of records/diploma supplement
Please upload the transcript of records/diploma supplement of your Bachelor’s or Master’s degree which you presented for admission to the respective Arqus university.
Letter of recommendation
Please upload a signed letter of recommendation from an academic of your Bachelor’s or Master’s degree programme.
Curriculum Vitae (CV)
Please upload your CV including practical experiences and extra-curricular activities.
Passport
Please upload a copy of the ID page with photograph of your passport.
Student with fewer opportunities (if applicable)
Please provide a confirmation according to the categories for students with fewer opportunities under section “Conditions of the Scholarship”.
Language Certificate (merit)
Please upload the proof of language proficiency (level B2 or higher) of one of the languages of the Alliance.

Selection & Selection criteria
The application and selection procedure for the Arqus Talent Scholarship is a two-stage selection process: (1) Eligibility Check and (2) Joint Selection & Ranking!
The Arqus European University Alliance is aware of the effort and time all applicants will have invested in completing the application. However, please note that it is a very highly competitive application and selection procedure.
For the verification, evaluation and selection of the submitted applications, the Selection Committee will follow the selection criteria as laid down by the Alliance. Please note that priority will be given to refugees/asylum seekers, students with fewer opportunities and applicants with a prior degree not obtained at the Arqus university where they will undertake the Master’s or doctoral studies.

academic background (educational qualifications/previous formal training in the respective areas of knowledge)

Proficiency in one of the Arqus languages (B2 or higher) and the field of study/research (i.e., whether it is related to one of the focus areas of the Alliance: Climate Change & Sustainability Development; Artificial Intelligence & Digital Transformation; European Identity & Heritage) will be considered as merit.
The Selection Committee is composed of academics of the Arqus Alliance who have been asked to serve on the committee as experts due to their years of experience in the high-quality education of doctoral and Master’s students.
The selection results will be published on the Arqus website with name, family name and nationality in the first half of July 2023.
Please note that the award of the scholarship is dependent on admission to the degree programme at the respective Arqus partner university.
