18 Aug 2022The Language Centre of Leipzig University together with the Language Centre of the University of Granada have organised another edition of their summer school, which started on Monday, 15 August, in Leipzig. Students from Spain met their peers from Leipzig for introductions for the first time and already started their language classes and cultural programme.
The summer school is designed as a Spanish immersion course from 15 August to 9 September in Leipzig and in Granada for German students, as well as a German immersion course from 15 August to 2 September 2022 in Leipzig for the Spanish students. Around 30 students partake in this opportunity to improve their language skills.
At the official opening of the course on Monday, the Arqus coordinator of Leipzig University, Ninon Müller, greeted the participants and gave a peek into the Arqus Alliance and its offers for members of the partner universities – for example, this unique summer school. Questions were answered concerning the extensive language course and cultural programme for this first week together in Leipzig, which started immediately after the get-together with a walk around the city and will continue in the next days with visits to the university library, museums, city landmarks and a picnic in one of the many lakes surrounding Leipzig.
Next week the German students will travel to the University of Granada and spend the remainder of the summer school there while the Spanish students continue in Leipzig. This is the 13th German/Spanish summer school organised by the University of Granada and Leipzig University and, fortunately, it can be held in person again this year, after two online summer schools.
