The Université Claude Bernard Lyon 1 has launched the International Development Graduate Track – SFRI Scholarships InnovInOnco for excellent students that wish to take up their Master’s and PhD studies in France during the academic year 2023-2024 within the “Master Cancer”.

The Master of Oncology (“Master Cancer”) of the Université Claude Bernard Lyon 1 is promoted by Professor Caroline Moyret-Lalle and attached to the Pharmaceutical and Biological Science Institute of this university. It is currently the only Master’s Degree in France entirely dedicated to oncology research.

This master is locally backed by very large internationally recognized research and treatment structures that are: Lyon Cancer Research Center, Léon Bérard Center, LabEX DEVweCAN Development Cancer and targeted therapies, LYRICAN, and Convergences François Rabelais Institute.

The Master of Oncology has very strong international policy and institutional partnerships with the University of Tokyo, the Shanghai Jiao Tong University, the University of Ottawa, the University of Melbourne, and the MIT-France program.

Within the framework of the SFRI – InnovInOnco, the organisers of the Master Cancer are offering a full student scholarship for 4 years:

  • 10 months M2 scholarship – 10 k€/year.
  • 3 years PhD grants – 24 k€/year.

Interested Arqus students can choose between four possible specialties within this Master:

  • Cancer Biology:
    Focus on the latest fundamental discoveries in the biological mechanisms of cancer. Lectures are given by internationally recognised researchers.
  • Therapeutic Innovations in Oncology:
    Focus on drug design, therapeutic innovations and clinical trials in oncology in collaboration with teachers from the Lyon Veterinary School (cancers in pets).
  • Precision Medicine in Oncology:
    Analysis and use of digital data in oncology and the socio-economic, ethical and societal aspects of this “massive data”, divided into two specialities: bioinformatics analysis of “omics” data or Health Humanities Sciences (HHS) dimension.
  • Cancer Bioengineering Master:
    Focus on the transdisciplinary teaching of physico-chemical properties of cancers, innovative technologies (biomechanics in 3D models, microfluidics and new devices) to better approach the physiology of the tumour in vitro.
