16 Jul 2025Leipzig students developing a start-up visit the University of Granada for a meeting on entrepreneurship and innovation, as part of the Arqus ISLYE programme.
A delegation of students and young entrepreneurs from Leipzig University visited the University of Granada between 27 June and 2 July. The objective of their visit was to learn about the BREAKER Centre for Entrepreneurship and its promotion and support of entrepreneurship initiatives.
This mobility was carried out as part of the Arqus initiative ISLYE – International Soft Landing for Young Entrepreneurs, which offers mobility opportunities for entrepreneurial students and researchers. The Alliance connects entrepreneurs with incubators, potential international clients, suppliers and startup ecosystems at other Arqus universities.
The students, co-founders of the start-up Hybeam, took the opportunity to learn about the entrepreneurial ecosystem of the University of Granada and to show the progress they had made with their virtual reality prototypes, which are designed to improve remote meeting experiences.
They held an introductory meeting with Marcelino Cabrera, an academic and senior lecturer of the University of Granada with an extensive experience in university entrepreneurship initiatives; and Javier Melero, founder of Aumentur, a company offering innovative digital solutions for smart tourism. Aumentur uses artificial intelligence, augmented reality, 3D technology and data science to enhance visitor experiences and provide smart tools for tour operators.
The co-founders of Hybeam also had the opportunity to learn more about the development of augmented reality from Ana Valenzuela of AR Vision and Tavola News. AR Vision is a leader in immersive technologies dedicated to breaking physical barriers through mixed reality.
Lastly, they were welcomed by Inmaculada Yuste, project officer of the Arqus local team at the University of Granada. She presented the Alliance’s entrepreneurship opportunities, such as the Arqus International Innovators Award, before they went on to participate in Alhambra Venture.
Alhambra Venture, the leading startup and investment event in southern Spain, took place in Granada from 30 June to 2 July 2025. More than 200 start-up candidates came together for the event. At least 25 of them were chosen to deliver pitches to a panel of over 300 national and international investors from 15 different countries. The event included conferences, round table discussions, workshops and networking opportunities, as well as B2B meetings. There was a particular focus on areas such as health, artificial intelligence, dual technology, energy, agri-food and sustainability.
Hybeam, the visiting start-up of Leipzig University, displayed its virtual reality glasses at the event. Other participating start-ups have emerged from the ecosystem of the University of Granada or have been supported by this university through programmes such as Ideas Factory, Business Skills and the UGR Mentoring and Networking Programme. Students and alumni from the University of Granada attended the event’s networking activities, conferences and training sessions.
The “UGRemprendedora” Entrepreneurship Programme of the University of Granada also participated in the institutional spaces of the meeting, highlighting its comprehensive support model for university entrepreneurship, which covers everything from the initial idea generation to business consolidation.
Projects driven by UGR students and alumni, as well as university spin-offs, stood out among the finalist start-ups and attendees. These projects showcased solutions in areas such as digital health, artificial intelligence, and smart tourism, as a result of the collaboration between the university, its research centres and the “UGRemprendedora” Entrepreneurship Programme.
