The University of Padua organises the face-to-face Conference “Competing Trends in International Education: Fostering Responsible Approaches” on 15th November 2023 from 9:00 to 16:30 CET at the Palazzo Bo in Padua. The event will gather together Arqus and other world-leading experts to discuss current trends, challenges and opportunities in the field of internationalization of Higher Education.
Geopolitics, demographic changes, regionalisation and marketisation processes are increasingly affecting international education policies and practices. Scholars and professionals from around the globe will bring in different regional perspectives on questions such as how to partner with countries and institutions where academic freedom is under threat or compromised; how to manage the impact of the demographic degrowth ahead of us; or how to make internationalization more responsible.
Cristina Basso, Vice-Rector for International Relations at the University of Padua will open the event, which will also count on the participation of Eva Egron-Polak, member of the Arqus International Advisory Board and Former Secretary General of the International Association of Universities, with a presentation about the kind of internationalization of Higher Education required for a new era.
Laura Howard, Director General of the SEA-EU Alliance will talk about the role of the European Universities Initiative in transforming European Higher Education. SEA-EU is also a member of the EDLab project “European Policy Experimentation in Higher Education: Piloting a Joint European Degree Label“, developed by Arqus, ENLIGHT, EUTOPIA and SEA-EU Alliances.
Dora Longoni, Head of the International Relations Division at the University of Padua and member of the Arqus Steering Committee will close the event.
