Participate in the Academy at Risk project of Padua!

Would you like to participate in a project aimed to empower students from war and conflict-affected countries? The University of Padua invites all Arqus students to get involved in the Academy at Risk – SET project.

The Academy at Risk project SET is a transformative initiative launched by the University of Padua aimed at addressing the challenges faced by students hailing from war-affected or conflict-affected countries. SET, which stands for “Sempre Tiro”, seeks to overcome stigmatization and isolation through a series of engaging and empowering activities.

SET, endorsed by the European Students Union (ESU) and the Open Society Foundations, is called to create a platform for students to come together, share experiences, and learn from one another. It is a beacon of hope for those whose educational journeys have been marred by crises.

The involvement in the project is channelled through three main forms of participation:

• Mental Support: the initiative recognizes the importance of mental well-being. SET will offer support and resources to help students cope with the emotional toll of their experiences.
• Practical Skills: in addition to knowledge-sharing, the project aims to equip students with practical skills. Workshops will be conducted to teach essential skills like academic writing in English and composing CVs, resumes, motivation letters, and cover letters.
• Educational Sessions: over the course of November and December 2023, SET will host four interactive sessions, each focused on distinct aspects of the conflicts, including historical, political, and cultural dimensions. These sessions will be led by renowned experts as well as fellow students, ensuring a comprehensive understanding of the issues at hand.
• Motivation Letter Contest: As part of the project, a Motivation Letter Contest will be organised. Students are invited to participate and showcase their talents. Awards will be granted to the top three winners, as evaluated by a distinguished jury.

War and conflict can create a sense of isolation and despair. Arqus students from all backgrounds are invited to join “Sempre Tiro” and create a supportive and inclusive community, contributing to break down the barriers of stigmatization, providing a safe space for learning, and offering practical tools for success.
