The 2nd Arqus PhD Week for Careers Outside Academia kicks off today!
|
27 Apr 2022After a successful first edition in Graz in October 2021, the second Arqus PhD Week for Careers outside Academia is taking place at Lyon from today until 29th April.
Around 40 doctoral researchers, PhD graduates and career development experts from the different universities of the Arqus Alliance will work together over 3 days.
The first day is dedicated to Train-the-trainer workshops for the participating career experts and an Introduction & Ice-breaker for the PhD students. The second day will focus on developing an entrepreneurial mindset through a workshop on entrepreneurial competencies and an activity about creativity. The last day’s activities delivered by the career experts revolve around practical job market skills training for careers outside academia.
In addition to the workshops, two round tables will take place with external speakers and partners, the first on the topic of “Careers outside academia: skills to highlight and opportunities to grasp” and the second being an exchange with PhD entrepreneurs organised by the local TTO Pulsalys.
This international and multicultural experience will allow the participants to learn about opportunities for careers outside academia and to recognise and highlight their own hard and soft skills. The full programme for PhD/postdocs workshops can be downloaded here.
This initiative is organised within the Arqus Action Line 6 Research Support and Early-Stage Researcher Development in collaboration with the Action Line 5 Entrepreneurial University and Regional Engagement in order to support doctoral candidates and doctorate holders in making their skills and knowledge available to employers outside the university context.
