15 Feb 2021On 19th February at 12 pm CET, the University of Granada organizes the webinar “Doublage et caractérisation des personnages: La casa de papel”, by Christina Lachat-Leal. It will be held in French.
The webinar will deal with dubbing and characterisation of the different characters in the Spanish series La casa de papel.
When translating for dubbing we translate dialogues. According to scriptwriters, a dialogue should be useful and should express what the image can’t express. It has three functions: an action function, an information function and a characterisation function. The characterisation dialogues give us some clues about who the characters are, about their personality.
In this lecture, we will have a look at the translation challenges set out by the characterisation of different characters taking some examples from the Spanish series La casa de papel.
Christina Lachat is a lecturer at the University of Granada, where she teaches audio-visual translation from French into Spanish at BA level and dubbing and subtitling at MA level. Before teaching at the University of Granada she worked as a professional translator for 15 years. Her main research areas are on the cognitive processes of translation and on visual perception applied to audio-visual translation
