In the context of the Arqus Talent Scholarship Fund, an appeal is a formal request made by an applicant to reconsider a decision regarding their scholarship application.
An appeal must always be based on solid evidence. This means that, if the Selection Committee determines that an applicant does not meet a specific selection criterion, the applicant is entitled to submit an appeal if they have evidence that refutes the Committee’s decision. For instance, if an applicant has successfully uploaded all required application documents by the deadline but some of them have not been considered by the Committee, the applicant has the option to appeal.
It is important to mention, however, that there is no right to appeal simply because an applicant believes they deserve a higher rating.
Please bear in mind that this is a very competitive application process and that the selection has been carried out by a Selection Committee made up of Arqus Alliance academics appointed for this purpose.
The Arqus Talent Scholarship Fund will accept appeals under the following conditions:
1. Grounds for appeal: An applicant may appeal if they believe that their application has not been accurately evaluated according to the selection criteria, and/or if they believe that the required application documents have not been thoroughly considered during the review process. For an appeal to be considered, it must be supported by documented evidence.
2. Submission of the appeal: To submit an appeal, the applicant must fill out a designated form and provide an explanation for the appeal, together with any supporting evidence.
3. Review process: The Selection Committee will review the appeal within 30 working days from the date of appeal submission. If the applicant does not receive an email notification within 30 working days (starting from 1st September*), it means that the request was not considered to be an appeal or that the appeal has been rejected by the Selection Committee.
4. Decision: The Committee will make a decision on the appeal which may result in the original decision being upheld, modified or overturned.
4.1. If the appeal is rejected: The applicant will remain on the relevant list (rejected candidates, non-waiting list, waiting list).
4.2. If the appeal is granted: The applicant will be informed in writing of the decision taken by the Selection Committee. The results list will be adjusted and published. The candidates concerned will be informed by the Arqus team.
*Please note that the Arqus Talent Scholarship Fund team will not be available during the month of August.
