The University of Padua hosts the Arqus Twinning ENACT Programme with the University of Wrocław

From 15 to 21 December, the University of Padua (Unipd) is hosting the Arqus Twinning ENACT – Energy Network for Advanced Conversion Technologies, a collaborative initiative with the University of Wrocław (UWr). This activity, part of the Arqus Twinning 2.0 initiative, brings together students and faculty from both universities for a week of international exchange and advanced learning.

The ENACT project, supervised by Professors Stefano Agnoli and Francesco Sedona from the Department of Chemical Sciences (Unipd) and Professor Tomasz Kosmala from the Department of Electron Spectroscopy (UWr), focuses on enhancing participants’ skills in data analysis and machine learning techniques. It also explores innovative approaches to the twin transitions of energy and digital transformation.

What is Arqus Twinning 2.0?

Arqus Twinning 2.0 is an international mobility programme connecting two groups from different Arqus Alliance universities. Each group, composed of one lecturer and 3–5 students, visits the partner institution to carry out a joint programme. The initiative strengthens subject-specific collaboration, promotes interdisciplinary learning, and fosters international teamwork.

The ENACT programme exemplifies these goals by enabling students to gain hands-on experience in cross-disciplinary research while learning to communicate and work within diverse teams. It also highlights the value of international collaboration in addressing global challenges like energy transition and sustainability.

A Collaborative journey

During this first phase in Padua, students will participate in workshops, collaborative research sessions, and cultural activities designed to deepen their understanding of advanced energy conversion technologies. In March 2025, the second phase of ENACT will take place at Wrocław University, where the Padua students will reunite with their Polish counterparts to continue their work and present joint outcomes.

Twinning 2.0 in action

Arqus Twinning 2.0, launched under the Arqus Innovation Fund, includes 12 selected projects for the 2024-2025 academic year. These projects span diverse themes, including climate change, artificial intelligence, and European cultural identity. With over 110 students and 24 lecturers participating, this initiative demonstrates the Alliance’s commitment to fostering innovative learning and collaboration across its member universities.

The ENACT project at the University of Padua underscores the transformative potential of Arqus Twinning 2.0, providing students with unique opportunities to expand their academic horizons and contribute to addressing key societal challenges.
