The Arqus Alliance and the University of Graz invite instructors from Arqus Universities to the Arqus Teaching Innovation Workshop on beneficial self-study settings. Join us on Friday, 12 December from 9:00 to 13:00 CET.
Learning is an active process that requires students not only to absorb content during classroom sessions but also to engage with materials independently by working through new concepts, applying them, and reinforcing what they have learned.
The workshop, led by Elisabeth Weber, a higher education expert and university instructor at BOKU University (Vienna), focuses on task design, material selection, and methodological approaches that align with sustainable learning principles.
Participants will explore how to prepare and conduct didactically sound self-study settings that help students take ownership of their learning (even in the age of AI), learning how to intertwine self-study successfully and attendance phases to support students before, during, and after class.
This session is aimed at Arqus Alliance instructors who seek to implement or further develop self-study phases in their teaching, regardless of their discipline or prior teaching experience.
