Arqus Teaching Innovation Fund

The Arqus Alliance is pleased to announce the launch of the Arqus Teaching Innovation Fund. This initiative supports innovative projects in teaching and learning across Arqus member institutions, fostering international collaboration, and promoting excellence in education. With up to €3000, the fund encourages the development of education projects that enhance student learning experiences and address societal challenges. The fund is open to teams of teachers and students from at least two Arqus universities. The deadline to apply is 15 May 2025.

The Arqus Teaching Innovation Fund aims to:

  • Foster collaboration between teachers and students within the Arqus European University Alliance.
  • Encourage partnerships with external stakeholders to address real-world problems.
  • Promote inclusive and student-centered teaching and learning practices.
  • Address challenges related to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)

This call for proposals is part of the ongoing commitment of the Arqus Alliance to foster academic collaboration and educational innovation. Selected applicants will be asked to showcase results of the implemented projects within Arqus.

Eligibility

This call is open to:

  • Teacher Teams: Teams of educators from at least two Arqus universities. There are no career-stage limitations, and cooperation with external profit and non-profit organizations is encouraged. Teams can include students from the Arqus universities where the educators come from.
  • Student Teams: Teams of students from at least two Arqus universities. The team must include at least one teacher from one Arqus university.

Key Dates:

  • Application deadline: 15 May 2025
  • Announcement of the results: 15 June 2025
  • Final report: 30 June 2026

Evaluation Criteria

Proposals will be assessed based on the following evaluation criteria:

1. Collaboration across Arqus institutions:

  • Extent to which the project fosters active collaboration between teachers and students from at least two Arqus member universities.
  • Inclusion of diverse perspectives and roles within teams (e.g. interdisciplinary or multidisciplinary collaborations).
  • Teaching approaches to enhance student skills and competencies in an international and cross-cultural context.

2. Partnerships with external stakeholders:

  • Engagement with external organizations or stakeholders to address real-world problems.
  • Plans for integrating external expertise or community impact into the project.

3. Promotion of inclusive and student-centered practices:

  • Evidence of inclusivity in project design, ensuring that it meets the needs of a wide range of students.
  • Use of student-centered teaching approaches that enhance active participation and learning.

4. Addressing challenges related to the SDGs:

  • The project should contribute to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals.

5. Clarity and feasibility of the financial plan

Funding and Eligible Costs

Eligible expenses must comply with the financial regulations of the coordinating university, directly support the implementation of the proposed project, and may include:

  • Travel costs.
  • Printing, catering, and translation expenses.
  • Staff costs directly associated with the project. 
  • Specific material required for the development and dissemination of the project.

Each selected project can receive up to €3000. Collaboration with external partners is possible, though they cannot receive funding directly from the Arqus Teaching Innovation Fund. If additional financial support is needed from the university/faculty/department, applications must include a confirmation letter from the leadership of the coordinating university/faculty/department.

Reporting and documentation of projects are mandatory, including both a financial report and an activity showcase with the demonstration of the achievement of the objectives at the conclusion of the project.
