Arqus hybrid seminar: Strengthening Open Scholarship and Open Science Collaboration and Capacity in Arqus Member Libraries

The Arqus Community of Practice, Libraries of the Future, invites Arqus staff members to their hybrid seminar ‘Strengthening Open Scholarship and Open Science Collaboration and Capacity in Arqus Member Libraries’, which will take place on 11 September 2025, from 10:15 to 17:10 CEST.

The seminar will bring together professionals from Arqus member libraries, research offices and academic departments to discuss the current challenges associated with strengthening open scholarship and open science across the Arqus Alliance libraries.

With contributions from speakers representing four Arqus member institutions, the seminar will address key topics including institutional-led publishing, research data management, research support and emerging challenges in the field.

  • Welcome.
  • Objectives of the session and overview of the day.

10:30–11:00 The Future of Open Scholarship and Open Science in Europe

  • Keynote: Lisa Griffith, Director, Digital Repository of Ireland
  • Q&A session

11:00–12:00 Maynooth and Open Scholarship and Open Science Lightning Talks

  • 6  presentations on:
    • OA Publishing support at MU Library – Fiona Morley
    • Engaging Researchers and Faculty – Ciarán Quinn
    • RDM Support – Fran Callaghan
    • How the Research Development Office (RDO) at MU supports OS – Elaine McCarthy
    • Research into challenges for OS (Dr Gail Sheppard, School of Business, MU)

  • 4 presentations on:
    • OA publishing at Graz University – Lisa Schilhan

12:55 –13:55 Workshop 1: Advancing Open Science and Open Scholarship Strategies

    • Institutional-Led Publishing Models (Fiona Morley & Lisa Schilhan).
    • Supporting Researchers (Ciaran Quinn, /Elaine McCarthy/ Erivelton Nepomuceno).
