The hybrid webinar, titled “Why language learning still matters in the age of AI?”, will be delivered online and in-person at Vilnius University. The session will take place on Friday, 12 December at 9:00 CET.

In this talk, participants will explore with Caroline Allen, from Leipzig University, how language learning continues to shape professional success, personal growth and intercultural understanding, highlighting why technology should be seen as a tool that enhances language learning, instead of replacing it.

About the speaker

Caroline Allen studied secondary education in England and moved to Germany in 2013. After several years of teaching business English, she shifted her focus to English for Specific Purposes (ESP).

Her PhD examined how English courses can be designed to meet the specific needs of learners in medical contexts.

She now teaches at Leipzig University, where she develops and delivers ESP courses for students in the natural sciences. Her work centres on helping learners build confidence and become the English speakers they aspire to be.
