The Arqus Alliance and the University of Wrocław invite teaching staff and didactics experts to an upcoming online Teaching Innovation workshop about Minecraft Education for game-based learning. Join on Monday, 16 June, 10:00 – 12:15 CEST.
University educators are invited to take part in an online workshop series exploring the use of Minecraft Education in higher education. The two-part workshop will take place on 9 and 16 June 2025 and is designed for educators who are interested in developing interactive, game-based learning environments.
After the initial session, participants will advance to a second, more interactive session focused on enhancing their skills within the Minecraft Education environment. This second workshop, “Create interactions”, will focus on advanced techniques for engaging students through in-game interactivity. Participants will develop NPC dialogues, use levers and buttons to trigger events, and be introduced to redstone circuits – Minecraft’s logic-based mechanics – to create responsive learning environments.
Led by Stefan Nowicki from the University of Wrocław – an experienced trainer in digital competencies, instructional designer, and certified Minecraft Education trainer – the series will offer a hands-on introduction to building educational scenarios in Minecraft, and using its tools to enhance student engagement.
In this session, “Learning experience in Minecraft Education: Create interactions”, participants will learn to script engaging and educational dialogues for NPCs, thereby enriching the narrative and interactive elements of their custom maps. Additionally, they will explore the practical applications of levers and buttons, which serve as fundamental tools for triggering various in-game actions and events, fostering learners’ engagement in the learning process. The workshop will also introduce the basics of redstone circuitry, enabling participants to design and implement simple yet effective mechanisms within their educational scenarios. By the end of this session, attendees will possess a comprehensive understanding of how to integrate these interactive components to create a dynamic and immersive learning environment.
All participants are expected to complete the How-to-Play tutorials in Minecraft Education to ensure productive engagement with the content. Attending the first workshop is greatly recommended.
Both workshops will be held online via Microsoft Teams and conducted in English.
