04 Oct 2024Spanish Universities in European Universities (UEUE) was formally established as a group in a meeting held at the Autonomous University of Madrid (UAM) on 1 October 2024. This meeting brought together more than 80 participants and marked an important milestone in the consolidation of the collaboration among the Spanish institutions that are part of European Universities alliances.
The University of Granada is part of this new group as coordinator and partner institution of the Arqus Alliance. The University had an outstanding participation in this key event, which aimed to strengthen ties and cooperation between European and Spanish universities.
The formalisation of the UEUE marks a significant advancement in the cooperation efforts among Spanish higher education institutions that are part of European Universities alliances. The group, which included 11 universities in its inception in 2019 and has grown to 55 universities by 2024, seeks to create an efficient governance framework for sharing knowledge, experiences and best practices.
By the end of the year, the UEUE expects to formally establish an Assembly, to approve its operating rules and to elect the members of the first Executive Committee that will lead the group in this new phase. The main objective of the UEUE is to work together to address the challenges that the Spanish university system faces in the European context.
