Arqus Café 8th edition: a great success
|
08 Aug 2024The 8th edition of the online Arqus Cafés was a great success! Eleven languages were offered in 28 cafés, and all Arqus languages were included. Participants could even choose between two language levels (beginner/intermediate and intermediate/advanced) for the English, German, French, Spanish and Italian Cafés .
More than 530 members from all Arqus Universities registered for the 8th edition of the Arqus Café, including 216 bachelor’s students, 136 master’s students, 64 academic staff and 43 non-academic staff.
The tutors met on 5 June to review the sessions and give constructive feedback as well as suggestions for additional events.
Leipzig University held thirteen in-person Arqus cafés for eleven languages. A total of 100 people signed up to practice together.
At the end of the semester, some tutors who participated in the in-person Arqus cafés met to chat about their cafés, languages and summer plans.
Vilnius is planning to offer in-person cafés as well. For this purpose, Arqus Café Facilitator Meike Münster went to Vilnius on an Erasmus+ exchange to discuss the opportunity and to help set up the cafés that will start next semester.
We are hoping to expand the Arqus Cafés in the near future so that many more, if not all of the universities in the Arqus Alliance, can offer Arqus Cafés both online and in person.
The next edition of the Arqus Cafés will run from 23 September to 6 December. Registration opens on 9 September. And we are currently looking for tutors who wish to participate.
We would love to see you there!
