21 Sep 2022Today, from 11:00 CEST, La Madraza, the Centre for Contemporary Culture of the University of Granada (UGR), hosts the 9th Arqus Rectors’ Council, a meeting where the Arqus Rectors will discuss the working structure and composition of the Alliance as well as update on the Work Plan 2019-2022.
This is the 9th Arqus Rectors’ Council that is developed in Arqus. In a previous meeting on January 2022, the Rectors ratified the adhesion of two new members to the Alliance, the Universities of Minho and Wroclaw. The Rectors met again on the occasion of the Annual Conference 2022 hosted by the University of Padua from 4th to 6th April for the signature of the Arqus Mission Statement (2022-2032) and the approval of 2 new Joint Master’s Programmes.
This new Rectors’ Council is framed in the schedule of activities and events organised by the UGR for the opening of the new academic year 2022-2023. The Council is organised one day before the opening of the Arqus Forum 2022, which will take place on 12th and 13th September in this university and that will entail the official closing event of the first phase of the Arqus Alliance (2019-2022).
Before the meeting, the Rectors will have the opportunity to enjoy a guided visit to La Madraza, a historic building declared an Asset of Cultural Interest (BIC) whose origins date back to the Nasrid Granada, when it was founded in 1349 by Yusuf I as a centre of higher studies dedicated to theological teachings, jurisprudence, medicine and mathematics.
