This Thursday 24th of November, the University of Lyon 1, the University of Mainz and the Franco-German University organised a workshop on the topic “Reading and writing academic books in the age of IA and media impact: issues and contextualisation”.

The event is extended today as well aimed to contextualise the issues of AI and openness (Open Access, Open Science) in relation to the production of a new form of academic works, particularly in the fields of Humanities and Social Sciences. Some plenary lectures are followed by workshops allowing the audience to actively participate in the discussions.

The workshop, bringing together experienced and early stage researchers, is intended to encourage the development of Franco-German cooperation, based on a theme that is still little dealt with in Europe. Its scientific challenge is to use an intercultural approach to examine the specificities of a new phase in the evolution of the academic book.

As Artificial Intelligence and Open Science are two topics on which Arqus focuses since its beginning, the Arqus team in Lyon 1 joined the event, continuing the already close collaboration with Professor Chérifa Boukacem-Zeghmouri. Therefore, yesterday, Lyon’s Project Manager Romain Thinon gave a speech on the Alliance and presented its main achievements and opportunities, allowing thus a public of young researchers to find out more about what Arqus can offer them.

Some of the sessions are available online, more details on the programme here.
