The main objective of the project “Arts and Creativity in the Foreign Language Classroom: Interdisciplinarity and Innovation in the Process of Teaching and Learning Slavic Languages” is to broaden students’ understanding of the target language culture and to foster their sociocultural competence by encouraging creativity in the foreign language classroom.
Three universities are participating in this project: the University of Granada, the University of Wrocław and Vilnius University. Academic staff from the University of Granada and the University of Wrocław already have experience working together within the framework of Blended Intensive Programmes Erasmus projects in 2024 and 2025. All participating staff bring extensive experience in teaching Slavic languages as foreign languages. The project is coordinated by the Department of Greek and Slavic Philology at the University of Granada, one of Spain’s leading departments for the study of Slavic languages.
To foster students’ creativity, it is essential that teachers create a motivating environment that nurtures imagination, while the curriculum provides sufficient space to cultivate creativity in the classroom. The project aims to develop new teaching materials that promote creativity and broaden students’ understanding of the target culture through the integrated use of music, painting and literature.
All materials will be designed for the B1 level, as it remains the most in-demand level in foreign language learning. In total, at least 10 lessons for Russian and five lessons for Polish are planned. The topics will be aligned with B1-level standards.
This project includes a workshop titled ‘Arts and Creativity Development in Slavic Language Teaching’ (18 May 2026) for Slavic language teachers, where a methodology based on an interdisciplinary approach to language teaching and creativity will be applied.
