European Studies Summer School in Bad Hersfeld, Germany

The Arqus Joint Master’s Programme in European Studies invites students to their summer school on 3-7 July 2025, in Bad Hersfeld (Germany). The deadline for applications is 25 April.

This Summer School is open to students from the Joint Master’s in European Studies as well as to Arqus students from any other programmes.

It is an excellent opportunity to further develop methodological and conceptual skills in the field of European Studies, to later be able to apply them in future research projects, especially in preparation for the Master’s thesis. Students in the Arqus Joint Master’s Programme will have the chance to meet their peers, as well as faculty from the different partner universities, and share their experiences during the first year.

The Summer School programme, organized in cooperation with the Erasmus Mundus Global Studies Consortium, includes methodological and Master’s thesis workshops and special sessions with alumni. A trip is planned to “Point Alpha”, a former US Army observation post now turned into a museum, which offers a starting point to reflect on the challenges of European transformations, past and present, in local, regional and global contexts.

Accommodation is organized and covered. Travel costs can be provided by Erasmus grants upon application and depending on availability. The coordinators will assist you in the process.

Due to the limited number of places available, students will be selected based on short applications. These applications should include the following:

  • A short CV specifying the student’s mobility track and academic interest
  • A short letter of motivation (maximum 300 words)
  • A short abstract for your potential Master’s thesis project (maximum 300 words)

Please submit your application to Stephan Kaschner at europastudien@uni-leipzig.de before 25 April.

We are looking forward to your applications! If you have any questions, do not hesitate to contact us.
