The Arqus Alliance invites Early-Stage Researchers to the Summer School on 7-9 July.
The Arqus Summer School on Research Leadership and Career Development for Early-Stage Researchers will take place at the University of Minho (Portugal). The event is organised by the universities of Granada, Graz, Lyon 1, Minho, Padua and Vilnius, and financed by the Arqus Innovation Fund.
This Summer School is developed by the “ReLead – Summer and Spring Schools on Research Leadership and Career Development for Early Stage Career Researchers” project and seeks to respond directly to one of Arqus’ objectives: to support early-stage researchers and provide them with essential skills, while promoting the goals of co-operation, innovative institutional learning and committed communities.
The initiative brings together students, academics, professionals and alumni, creating a vibrant community of committed stakeholders who contribute to mutual growth. The participants will learn practical tools to improve negotiation and communication, and will create a personal research leadership development plan. This will not only prepare them for future leadership roles but will also strengthen their current research skills and academic performance, improving their ability to lead teams effectively and foster a collaborative working environment. This will be the first initiative of this kind within the Arqus Alliance and represents a novel approach within the university network, fostering a research leadership culture based on integrity and embracing state-of-the-art leadership tools and methods.
This Summer School also aligns with the recommendations from the European University Association (EUA) to design and implement comprehensive leadership development strategies within European Universities. The consistent and effective mentoring practices throughout the Alliance can lead to improved mentee outcomes, better retention of junior researchers, and a more supportive research environment across all institutions.
The Summer School programme is divided into 3 interactive modules:
Module 1: Principles of Research Leadership
Module 2: Managing people and leading research teams
Module 3: Careers in Research: Paths and Opportunities
