The Enlight and the Arqus Alliance organise the 11th Open Science Ambassador webinar, titled “SCOAP3: Sponsoring Consortium for Open Access Publishing in Particle Physics”. It will take place on 12 December 2025, from 10:00-11:30 CET.

SCOAP3 (Sponsoring Consortium for Open Access Publishing in Particle Physics) is a partnership of over three thousand libraries, funding agencies, and research institutions in 47 countries, regions, or territories, and three intergovernmental organisations.

Launched in 2014, the mission of this partnership is to sponsor the open-access publishing of articles in the field of High-Energy Physics (HEP) at no cost or burden for authors.

By working with leading publishers, SCOAP3 has sponsored over 7.500 articles, books and monographs, covering key journals in the field to open access and making them open for any scientist to publish in without any financial barriers and allowing for a free and easy scientific discourse.

In this session, participants will explore with Stefan Hohenegger, from the University of Lyon 1, the foundations on which the SCOAP3 consortium is built, and review some of the innovations towards providing research communication as a global public good.

The session will be recorded and streamed on the Arqus YouTube channel.
