On 2 December, Leipzig University will be hosting the film screening and discussion of the documentary “Refugee Girls” at the campus Augustusplatz, lecture hall 11. The activity will take place from 13:00 to 15:00 CET as part of the Leipzig University Dies Academicus, which will also feature an Arqus Stand presenting the Alliance’s opportunities for university members from 10:00 to 13:00 CET.

The first activity will feature the film screening of the documentary “Refugee Girls” and an afterward roundtable discussion and open debate about the topics brought up in the film, with the film director, Leonardo Cinieri Lombroso (digital attendance); the Project Manager, Elisa Gamba; and the Leipzig University Refugee students: Cezar Hesso and Samer Arbash from Syria.

The event will be hosted as part of the activities taking place for the Leipzig University dies academicus, the university’s anniversary (this year the 616th), where, instead of classes, the faculties and institutions at Leipzig University will present themselves with a variety of programmes.

Along with these programmes, an Arqus Stand will be displayed to present the Arqus Alliance opportunities for the university members from 10:00 to 13:00 CET.  You can read more information about the Arqus stand here.

This event is part of the ad-hoc bottom-up initiative “Arqus: an Alliance supporting Refugees’ right to a Qualified and Unique Study experience”, which aims to organise a day of reflection on refugee students at each Arqus partner university and is funded by the Arqus Innovation Fund.
