21 May 2025The University of Padua organises a screening of the film “When you can’t go back” on 29 May, and the University of Lyon 1 will project the documentary “Refugee Girls” on 4 June.
These events are part of the bottom-up initiative “Arqus: an Alliance supporting refugees’ right to a qualified and unique study experience”, which aims to organise a day of reflection on refugee students at each partner university.
The events start with a brief introduction on the integration of refugee students, followed by the screening of one of the films:
Afterwards, round tables and open discussions will deepen the issues raised by the documentary. Both events will count on the presence of film director Leonardo Cinieri Lombroso and project manager Elisa Gamba, PhD candidate in Human Rights, Society and Multi-level Governance at the University of Padua and a member of the Arqus Inclusion and Diversity Hub.
The Padua, Lyon 1 and the rest of Arqus universities are committed to spreading good practices and stimulating dialogue and reflection on the importance of opening the doors of higher education to those in need, presenting their local efforts to include refugee students and organising the screening of a documentary film.
