The University of Lyon 1 has launched the first competitive call of the MuSkLE programme, offering 17 MSCA (Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions) doctoral fellowships for international candidates interested in pursuing cutting-edge research in France.

The MuSkLE Graduate Programme (Musculo-Skeletal System, Locomotion, Exercise) focuses on interdisciplinary research dedicated to understanding the musculoskeletal system—from molecular mechanisms to integrative physiological processes. The programme also explores the impact of physical exercise, particularly locomotor activity, on the musculoskeletal system in both physiological contexts and disease conditions.

🎓 MuSkLE Doctoral Fellowships – First Competitive CallThis first call aims to recruit 17 MSCA (Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions) doctoral fellows who will join dynamic research teams and contribute to innovative projects in areas such as life sciences, physiology, biomechanics, and health research.

Eligibility criteria

  1. The recruited applicant must be a doctoral candidate (i.e. not already in possession of a doctoral degree at the date of the application call deadline). 
  2. The applicant should not have resided or carried out his/her main activity (work, study) in the country where he/she is  being recruited, i.e. France, for more than 12 months in the 3 years before the application call deadline, unless this time was part of a compulsory national service or a procedure for obtaining refugee status under the Geneva Convention.

Application process

Applications must be submitted exclusively through the online application form and candidates may apply to a maximum of three PhD projects within a single application.

Required documents include:

  • A CV (max. 2 pages) outlining education, experience, skills, and two referees
  • A personal statement (max. 1 page) describing motivation, career goals, and project choices
  • An optional project proposal if the candidate wishes to propose their own PhD topic within the programme’s research areas

All supporting documents must be combined into one file (maximum 8 MB). Please make sure to read the Guide for applicants before completing the application form.
