The ENLIGHT and Arqus alliances organise the 8th webinar on Open Science, titled Peer Community In – A free and transparent initiative for preprint peer-reviewing. It will take place on 17 March 2025, from 10:00 to 11:30 (CET).
In this session, participants will discover Peer Community In (PCI), a non-profit initiative founded in 2016 to provide free and transparent peer review for preprints. PCI consists of 18 thematic communities that evaluate and recommend preprints based on rigorous peer review, ensuring their quality, reliability, and citability without requiring publication in traditional journals. Recommended articles receive a DOI and can be cited like journal articles, with the option to be published in Peer Community Journal or submitted elsewhere.
The session will feature a presentation by Alain Queffelec (University of Bordeaux), covering PCI’s structure, evaluation process, and benefits. A discussion will follow to exchange experiences and perspectives on PCI’s role in reshaping scientific publishing.
