18 Jul 2025The Arqus Alliance is pleased to announce this year’s winner of the Arqus Green Mobility Days Award: Giada Abategiovanni!
This Award recognises outstanding commitment to sustainability through innovative green mobility approaches. Giada Abategiovanni, student in Modern languages for international communication and cooperation at the University of Padua, has won the award for her project “Green mobility week”.
Arqus Green Mobility Days is an initiative promoted by the Arqus European University Alliance to foster and explore new ways to implement green mobility. This Award aims to identify good practices in the field of sustainability that can spark innovative approaches to green mobility within the Alliance.
The Arqus Green Mobility Days Award objective is to select the most remarkable sustainability project suggested or carried out by a student, lecturer, researcher or staff member from an Arqus university. In this second edition, 9 proposals were submitted, and the selection was managed by 7 panellists coming from 7 different Arqus universities. The selection committee evaluated each proposal from the point of view of 6 scopes: innovative approach; adaptability to different contexts; network involved and impact at the local level; target groups involved and inclusion; significance to the Arqus Green Mobility Days objectives and to international mobility; feasibility and reproducibility.
The winning project, by UNIPD student Giada Abategiovanni, is titled “Green mobility week”. This proposal involves a week-long sustainability hackathon where students participate in workshops, expert-led talks, and hands-on activities. Each day would focus on a specific theme: bicycle & micro-mobility; sustainable public transport; carpooling & shared mobility; green travel; and green tech for mobility. Giada Abategiovanni’s goal is that this initiative isn’t just about learning, but about action: to create a collaborative space for education, innovation, and behavioural change.
The winner will be awarded €1000 in the form of interrail passes. An award ceremony will be organised in autumn at the University of Padua.
Congratulations to Giada Abategiovanni for her outstanding project to raise awareness on sustainability within the Arqus community!
