The Arqus Alliance is organising a film screening and discussion of the documentary film “Refugee Girls” at the University of Graz, in auditorium B1, Gualtar campus (Braga, Portugal). The session will take place on 12 November at 13:30 CET.

The programme includes a screening of the film, followed by a roundtable discussion with Leonardo Cinieri Lombro (the film’s director), Elisa Gamba (project manager), Sarah Al Sharbaji (Minho’s EAAD student) and a CLAIM Portuguese Red Cross representative.

The documentary, which will be presented in advance by the director, follows the life of three young refugees in Europe, telling the stories of Robina, an Afghan student at La Sapienza University in Rome, and Sofiia and Bozhena, two Ukrainian students at the University of Barcelona who are continuing their studies far from Ukraine, showing how, despite the challenges imposed by forced migration, these young women face the future with hope.

Admission to the event is free, but registration is required.

This event is part of the ad-hoc bottom-up initiative “Arqus: an Alliance supporting Refugees’ right to a Qualified and Unique Study experience”, which aims to organise a day of reflection on refugee students at each Arqus partner university and is funded by the Arqus Innovation Fund.
