Type: Arqus Living Labs
Format: Hybrid
In this third session of the JAI webinar series, Prof. Christian Pentzold (Leipzig University) will explore how artificial intelligence is emerging as a transformative force that reshapes our understanding of life and death. It will be held on-site at Leipzig University and online.
The talk focuses on an experimental frontier of AI: its capacity to reimagine and recreate deceased beings, both human and animal. Drawing on the analysis of around fifty cases from the United States, Europe, the Near East, and East Asia, the presentation identifies three principal modes of AI “resurrections”: spectacularization, sociopoliticization, and mundanization. These modes channel the generative power of AI toward the creation of aesthetically appealing, politically charged, and communicative representations used for entertainment, advocacy, and remembrance.
A Journal through Artificial Intelligence (JAI) is a lecture series on Artificial Intelligence (AI) designed for a non-expert audience to break down complex AI concepts and make them accessible to everyone.
The JAI webinars aim at explaining artificial intelligence to the general public in a simple way. All sessions are planned to be held either online or in a hybrid format.
These sessions, held both online and in a hybrid format, aim to build AI literacy and promote informed societal discourse. The Arqus Artificial Intelligence and Digital Transformation (AI&DT) Living Lab organises accessible, non-technical lectures to demystify AI concepts for a broad audience, ensuring that people from all backgrounds can gain insights into its principles, challenges and potential. Topics range from the historical development of AI to its ethical challenges, practical applications in education and value alignment.
Registration is required. Registered participants will receive the information on the room or the link to the online lecture per email well in advance.
