Leading Innovation Management micro-credential

The micro-credential aims to develop participants’ strategic and leadership capabilities to manage and lead innovation in dynamic and uncertain environments, apply responsible and sustainable innovation principles, and design innovation strategies that create lasting value for organizations and society.

The programme emphasizes the leadership role in transforming ideas into impactful solutions, managing disruptive technologies, and fostering cross-sectoral collaboration.

A distinctive feature is its integration of responsible and sustainable innovation principles, including the UN SDGs and introductory sustainability assessment tools (LCA, LCC, S-LCA). Combining Vilnius University’s expertise in innovation management and technology transfer with Maynooth University’s focus on sustainability and social innovation, the program prepares participants to apply responsible, ethical, and future-oriented innovation leadership in real-world contexts.

Participants will not just study innovation — they will practise it. The programme is built around a live team innovation challenge in which learners apply every tool from the course to a real-world problem and pitch their strategy to peers and experts. Combined with the international, cross-institutional setting of Arqus, this gives participants a working network across European universities and the confidence to lead innovation in uncertain, fast-moving environments.

Main Programme Leaders:

Prof. Dr. Saulė Mačiukaitė-Žvinienė — Professor of Innovation at Vilnius University Business School, Saulė brings to the programme more than two decades of work at the meeting point of research, policy, and practice. Her interests span innovation and knowledge management, responsible research and innovation, and the collaboration that connects universities, industry, and government. Having shaped and led numerous EU Framework and Horizon projects, she designs the micro-credential’s components on innovation ecosystems, leadership for transformation, and responsible innovation — helping participants turn ambitious ideas into strategies that hold up in the real world.

Her research centres on sustainability, social innovation, and impact assessment — translating big-picture goals into tools leaders can actually use. She leads the programme’s sustainability and social-innovation strand, weaving the UN Sustainable Development Goals and introductory assessment methods (LCA, LCC, S-LCA) into the curriculum so participants learn to innovate not only effectively, but responsibly.

Ass. Prof. Dr. Peter Deeney — Assistant Professor of Finance at Maynooth University, he leads the Research Ireland–funded Wind Value project on the financial risks and community ownership of wind farms, and teaches sustainable finance and sustainability in business.
