Open to: Academics & researchers, PhD Students, Students, Teachers

The Community of Practice (CoP) “AI and Languages Learning and Teaching” invites you to its third online workshop in a series of meetings and training sessions that will be held on Microsoft Teams.

Matías Tribes Monje (University of Wrocław) will deliver a session titled “From Prompt to Pedagogy: Using Generative AI in Language Teaching” on 8 May 2026, from 10:00 to 12:00 (CEST).

Workshop description:

This workshop focuses on the pedagogical use of generative AI in language teaching, particularly in lesson preparation. The aim is not to explore theoretical aspects in depth, but to show how AI can be integrated effectively into instructors’ everyday practice. In particular, the workshop focuses on using chatbots based on large language models to work with texts.

The starting point is to discuss what type of tool AI is and what this implies in practice. From there, the workshop will be structured around a simple and transferable process: defining a specific pedagogical need, formulating an appropriate prompt and evaluating the output.

This process will be illustrated through a variety of uses such as text creation and adaptation, activity design, lesson planning and rubric development. In all of these cases, the focus is placed on the role of the instructor in interpreting, adapting and deciding how to use the results generated. And in this context, the context and pedagogical decisions involved have to be considered.
