Arqus CChSD Webinar #2: “The grape microbiota: a powerful biotechnological tool for promoting sustainability & authenticity in viticulture”

The Arqus Climate Change and Sustainable Development (CChSD) cluster invites researchers and students to participate in the webinar “The grape microbiota: a powerful biotechnological tool for promoting sustainability & authenticity in viticulture”, which will take place next Monday, 15^th April 2024, at 16:30 CEST.

Pest management in plants mostly relies on the heavy use of chemical pesticides and the development of eco-friendly alternatives is currently a hot-topic of research worldwide. In parallel, the universalization in wine production methods has been restricting the imprint of terroir in regional wines, resulting in progressive loss of typicity. In this session, strategies for addressing these issues will be explored, encompassing the exploitation of the native grape microbiota to develop sustainable biocontrol formulations, and to create high-quality unique wines, towards fomenting sustainability & authenticity in vitiviniculture.

The session, led by Dr. Viviana Martins from the University of Minho, is part of the Blended Intensive Programme on “Plant adaptations to climate changes” that is being organised by the Universities of Granada, Minho, Wroclaw and the Université Catholique de Louvain.
