International conference at the University of Wrocław on AI in academic teaching – innovation, practice and future

18-19 JUNE2026

Type: Arqus Teaching Innovation

Format: In-person

The University of Wrocław invites academic staff across Arqus and beyond to participate in the international conference “AI in Academic Teaching: Innovation, Practice and Future Directions”, taking place on 18–19 June 2026 at the University’s Main Library in Wrocław.

The conference will provide a platform for exploring the transformative role of artificial intelligence in higher education, addressing both innovative teaching applications and the ethical challenges emerging from AI integration in academia.

The two-day event will be held exclusively in person and participation is free of charge. Coffee breaks, two lunches and one conference dinner will be provided for all registered participants.

The programme combines theoretical perspectives with practical, hands-on experiences through plenary lectures, thematic parallel sessions and interactive workshops.

Keynote speakers

Among the keynote speakers are:

  • Gerd Kortemeyer (ETH Zurich), presenting “Project Ethel: Using AI for Teaching and Learning at ETH Zurich and Beyond”
  • Vilmantas Pupkis (Vilnius University), presenting “Sources That May or May Not Exist: AI in Academic Literature Search”

Workshops and thematic sessions

Participants will have the opportunity to engage with experts from the University of Wrocław, Vilnius University, and Wrocław University of Science and Technology on topics such as:

  • Computational modelling with single prompts
  • Critical engagement and cognitive debt in academia
  • Practical workflows from Markdown to interactive teaching applications
  • Generative AI tools for foreign language instruction and Trados integration

As the workshops are designed as practical sessions, participants are asked to bring their own devices. Pre-allocation to workshop groups is required during registration, and places are limited.
