International Doctoral Summer School Biomat 2022 for young Arqus researchers

6 May2022

The University of Granada is organising the International Doctoral Summer School on Modelling Nature (MNat) – Biomat 2022 from 6th to 10th June 2022 in Granada (Spain). The Biomat 2022 is aimed at young researchers and the entire scientific community interested in multiscale models and methods in life sciences.

The PhD School is organised in a series of minicourses and seminars on current topics of mathematical modelling in developmental biology, biophysics, biomechanics, biomedicine and deep learning. The University of Granada offers 10 grants (lodging expenses covered by the organization or reduced registration fee) and preference will be given to students from Arqus member universities.

Important deadlines:

  • Registration: 6th May 2022.
  • Grant application: 15th April 2022.
  • Notification to the grantees: 6th May 2022.

To register please contact kinetic@ugr.es including the word “MNatSchool” in the subject.

The International Summer School will be organised in:

1. Minicourses:

  • Coupling Multiscale Modelling and Machine Learning Methods with Applications to Biology. Mark Alber (University of California, Riverside, USA).
  • Modelling immunological processes. Raluca Eftimie (Université Bourgogne Franche-Comté, France).
  • Topological data analysis and applications in dynamics. Ximena Fernandez (Durham University, United Kingdom).
  • Role of interstitial flow in tumor angiogenesis. Héctor Gómez (Purdue University, USA).
  • The use of multi-agent systems in neuro-sciences. Pierre-Emmanuel Jabin (Penn State University, USA).
  • Perspectives beyond pairwise interactions with neuron synchronization applications. Viktor Jirsa (Aix-Marseille Université, France).

2. Extended Conferences:

  • Micro-macroscopic dynamics in tumor angiogenesis. Martina Conte (Politecnico de Torino, Italy).
  • Epidemiological models of infectious disease transmission: an insight into multiscale and heterogeneity features. Damian Knopoff (Basque Center for Applied Mathematics, Spain).
  • Beyond pairwise interactions: synchronisation of phase oscillators. Maxime Lucas (ISI, Italy).
  • Higher order couplings in neural networks. Ana P. Millán (Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, The Netherlands).
  • Introduction to deep learning methods in ecological research. Ignacio Peralta-Maraver (University of Granada, Spain).
