Enrol for the third edition of the UGR MOOC on Machine Learning and Big Data for Bioinformatics

17 Jan 2023The open educational platform of the University of Granada “AbiertaUGR” invites Arqus students and academics to sign up for the third edition of its Massive Open Online Course “Machine Learning and Big Data for Bioinformatics”. The enrolment process for this successful MOOC, free of charge and offered either in Spanish or English, will be open until 6th February, starting date of the programme.
The MOOC is divided into 8 modules with a total duration of 100 hours (or 8 weeks) and will cover the following topics: What is Bioinformatics; Bioinformatics Analysis of a problem in Omics; Data Science and Machine Learning and Supervised Learning: Regression Techniques; Supervised Learning: Classification Techniques; Unsupervised Learning: Clustering and Association Rules; Big Data; and the Graphical Tool KNIME.
The Programme has been produced by a group of professors, researchers, professionals and specialists in each of the above areas from the University of Granada, to introduce Bioinformatics and Machine Learning in its broadest aspects, combining academic rigour with a simple and direct methodology that allows understanding and enjoyment.
The open Course “Machine Learning and Big Data for Bioinformatics” offers learning without fixed schedules through videos, materials and other didactic resources that will be weekly uploaded to the allocated platform avoiding students to have to attend programmed classes and lessons.
The MOOC is recognised with 4 ECTS for undergraduate students of the University of Granada. Students of the rest of the Arqus universities have the possibility of obtaining a certificate of having completed the course.
In 2022, “Machine Learning and Big Data for Bioinformatics” was awarded the prize of the UGR Social Council for excellent online training activities.
