The University of Wrocław has been selected as a laureate of the second edition of Poland’s flagship Excellence Initiative – Research University (IDUB) programme. This selection secures the University’s status as one of only ten top research universities in Poland for the 2027-2032 period.

The competition involved a comprehensive evaluation by an international panel of experts, assessing both the outcomes of the programme’s first edition and future development plans. Under the competition framework, retaining a place among the top institutions required demonstrating strong, forward-looking research capacity and long-term vision.

Addressing the outcome, Prof. Patrycja Matusz, Vice-Rector for Internationalisation at the University of Wrocław, highlighted the role of international cooperation:

“This is a recognition of the talent, commitment and international outlook of our entire community. Excellence today is never built alone, and our place among Poland’s best research universities is also the result of the partnerships we have grown across Europe. Within Arqus, we see every day how much we gain by thinking, researching and teaching together. Now we have even more to bring to the table, and we can’t wait to do it with our partners.”

For Arqus, the University of Wrocław’s continued status as a top research institution will strengthen collaborative research capabilities, expand opportunities for early-career researchers, and support ongoing joint projects across member institutions over the next six years.
