Register for the 9th ENLIGHT and Arqus Open Science ambassador webinar
|
22 Apr 2025The ENLIGHT and Arqus alliances organise the 9th webinar on Open Science, titled Science in society – How science communication can benefit from open science practices. It will take place on 19 May 2025, from 10:00 to 11:30 (CEST).
In this session, participants will explore how science is a hot topic in our society that gains attention due to pressing social challenges such as the coronavirus pandemic or ongoing developments such as climate change. It is not just about the social discourse on how to approach these challenges; science has been instrumentalized as a political issue, which puts trust in science at risk. In this context, science communication has a certain importance as a strategic instrument.
This webinar will look at different roles researchers can take in their communication, the resulting responsibilities and possible implications for maintaining trust in science. Finally, the importance of Open Science practices for modern science communication will be discussed together with the audience.
The session will feature a short presentation by Hildrun Walter, from the University of Graz. She is one of Arqus Open Science Ambassadors. After her presentation, a discussion will take place where participants will exchange their experiences with science communication and Open Science practices. The webinar will be at 10:00 on 19 May via Zoom. It will be recorded and later available to watch on the Arqus YouTube channel.
The Arqus Open Science Ambassadors organise a series of webinars on Open Science, in collaboration with ENLIGHT Alliance. Open Science practices promote transparency, reusability, interdisciplinary cooperation and the improvement of research quality and credibility, with the ultimate goal of facilitating the exchange of and access to scientific knowledge.
