After the successful return of the Arqus Lounge in 2025, we are now happy to offer it again in 2026. These sessions will take place twice a month from March to June on Thursday evenings at 6 pm (CET). We hope that this will be a good time to chat and relax after work!

The Arqus Lounge is an opportunity for Arqus academic and professional staff to get to know colleagues from other Arqus universities and to talk about current topics, their daily work, related issues and other common interests. As with the Arqus Café, it is also a great opportunity to practice speaking English with others in a relaxed atmosphere. Sessions will be led by moderators who are native speakers.

They will start with introductions, a small language focus and general conversation and will then and will then turn to focused conversation with two topics to choose from. We hope that the Arqus Lounge will help to connect people who are interested in similar topics. When you register, you will have the opportunity to suggest a few topics.

As sessions will be led by two moderatorsKerstin Gackle from Seattle (US) and Graham Sullivan from Maynooth (Ireland) – we will  be able to use the breakout rooms for general conversation to be able to speak in smaller groups and for the focused conversations so that you can take part in the conversation topic you are more interested in.

Sign up soon to secure your spot by! Places are limited.

Remember! These are the dates:

  • Twice per month on Thursdays, 6-7 pm (CET)
  • Upcoming dates: 12 and 26 March, 16 and 30 April, 7 and 21 May, and 11 and 25 June
