25 May 2026Arqus students are invited to apply for the second edition of the innovative micro-degree programme Artificial Intelligence and Society, offered online by the University of Graz as a virtual mobility opportunity.
The complementary qualification programme, worth 16 ECTS credits and delivered entirely online over two semesters, is open to students from all disciplines and can be followed alongside their regular studies. More than 70 students from Arqus universities are currently enrolled in the programme and are expected to complete it with an internationally recognised micro-degree certificate.
Designed to prepare students for an AI-transformed future, the programme combines technical foundations with ethical, legal, economic and educational perspectives on artificial intelligence. Participants will learn to critically assess and responsibly implement AI systems while gaining practical and interdisciplinary competences relevant to a wide range of professional fields.
The micro-degree is available in both English and German and offers students a flexible and practice-oriented learning experience within an international online classroom. The curriculum is structured around three modules: an introduction to AI and society, application-oriented technical and specialised courses, and a practical implementation project.
By completing the programme, students will develop competences in understanding AI systems, analysing their societal impact, evaluating ethical implications, applying legal frameworks, and exploring AI applications in business and education.
As part of this virtual mobility initiative, students will be enrolled as regular mobility students at the University of Graz and will receive academic and administrative support throughout the programme. Upon successful completion, they will obtain a certificate and transcript of records. Credit recognition at the home university may also be possible upon prior agreement with the respective institution.
The second call for applications is open until 22 June 2026. Interested students must apply individually through an online form, after which their home university will be asked to confirm their enrolment status.
More information about the programme is available on the University of Graz website.
