27 May 2026The University of Padua is organising the Summer School “Artificial Intelligence and Justice. A Human-Centred Vision in a Global World”, taking place in Padua from 6 to 11 July 2026.
The programme will be conducted in English and is open to students, doctoral candidates, researchers, legal professionals and justice practitioners interested in exploring the impact of artificial intelligence on criminal justice systems.
Participants from universities belonging to Arqus will benefit from a reduced registration fee of €250 instead of the standard €500 fee.
The Summer School will begin with a theoretical and practical introduction to Artificial Intelligence and prompting techniques, specifically designed to be accessible to legal practitioners. Participants will then examine the tensions and synergies between AI systems and the principles established in supranational legal frameworks, as well as the emerging challenges arising from the interaction between AI and criminal justice.
One of the highlights of the programme will be an interactive simulation led by an internationally renowned investigator. Using advanced AI tools, participants will reconstruct the digital traces of a criminal offence and apply the knowledge acquired during the course to identify the perpetrator in a realistic investigative setting.
The initiative aims to combine theoretical reflection with hands-on experience while fostering interdisciplinary dialogue on the ethical, legal and practical implications of AI technologies in justice systems.
