Learning outcomes
By the end of the course, participants will be able to:
- LO1: Analyze innovation ecosystems and assess opportunities for collaboration across academia, industry, and government.
- LO2: Design and justify innovation strategies that integrate disruptive technologies, commercialization, and technology transfer.
- LO3: Apply introductory sustainability assessment tools (SDGs, LCA, LCC, S-LCA) to support responsible innovation decisions.
- LO4: Lead collaborative innovation processes, managing risks, ethics, and stakeholder engagement.
- LO5: Communicate innovation strategies and proposals effectively to professional audiences.
The course combines:
- Interactive lectures and ecosystem mapping exercises
- Case study analysis, role plays, and peer simulations
- Strategy workshops and simulation games
- Seminars, guided group work, and pitch training
Assessment
Assessment strategy and deadlines:
- Portfolio (40% total): Ecosystem mapping & case analysis (15%, Week 4) + Short sustainability assessment case (15%, Week 4) + Portfolio reflection note on teamwork & decision-making (10%, Week 4).
- Team Innovation Challenge (30% total): Strategy document (15%, Week 5) + Presentation/pitch (15%, Week 5).
- Reflective Essay on Leadership & Ethics (30%): Individual essay evaluated on critical insight, ethical reasoning, and clarity of reflection (Week 6).
