The initiative aims to implement two collaborative programmes focused on climate change and sustainable development.
Students and academics from the nine Arqus full partners will participate in a programme designed to explore how European citizenship can be mobilised to address the urgent challenges posed by rapid climate change and to advance the goal of climate neutrality.
The programme is structured into three core phases, which are common to all participating universities. Additionally, each university has the option to develop its own tailored pre-training phase, as outlined below:
(i) Winter School. Students will be prepared to undertake collaborative research projects related to the programme’s themes at their home universities during phase (ii). The Winter School provides foundational training on both the challenges of climate change for European citizenship and the methodological skills necessary for collaborative development required during phase (ii).
(ii) The Challenge-based Learning Programme. Students from each university will connect via online platforms to receive training and support as they develop their challenge-based research projects.
(iii) The Student-Led Forum. This forum brings together student representatives to share and discuss their experiences and findings from their research projects, fostering cross-university dialogue and learning.
(iv) University-Specific Pre-Training (optional). Each university may offer a pre-training phase tailored to the needs of its students and academics. This optional component is designed to support students as they prepare for participation in the main programme phases (i) to (iii).
