The Student House, under the umbrella of the Arqus Alliance at the University of Padua (UNIPD), is teaming up with the Student Engagement Team (SET Padova) to organise SET’s thought-provoking event called the Human Rights Café. Taking place on Friday, May 19th, at 17:30, this event aims to shed light on the mental health challenges faced by students during the thesis writing process.

The Human Rights Café will provide an insightful platform for a common discussion, delving into the experiences and struggles encountered by students while undertaking their theses. The cafè will consist of UNIPD international current student or alumni speakers, including an MA student, two graduates, and a PhD student. They will candidly share their personal encounters with thesis stress and offer practical tips on managing it effectively.

The Student House and SET Padova have come together to address the issue of thesis-related stress, aiming to raise awareness about its impact on student’s mental health. The event seeks to foster a culture of self-care and support within academic communities by providing students with valuable insights and strategies to manage their mental well-being during this demanding phase of their academic journey.

The Student House, established in February 2023 as a result of the UNIPD call for student initiatives, has successfully organised two events out of the six envisioned for 2023 thus far. Its primary objectives include promoting Arqus opportunities to UNIPD students and creating a local community of Arqus students. Through this community, students can explore avenues for engagement and ensure their voices are heard not only by the university but also by their peers.

Through the Human Rights Café, The Student House and SET Padova are taking a proactive approach to prioritise the mental health of students and advocate for a supportive academic environment. This event serves as an excellent opportunity to generate awareness, foster dialogue, and encourage the implementation of effective self-care practices among students.
