Voice your vision! Arqus participates in the European Youth Week 2024 dedicated to democracy and the European elections

Arqus Secretary General, Fernando Galán, is taking part in the European Youth Week (EYW) 2024 “Voice your vision” event at the European Parliament today. EYW is a biennial event organised by the European Commission to celebrate and promote youth engagement, participation and active citizenship across Europe and beyond. This year’s edition, which will take place from 12^th to 19^th April, will focus on “Democracy & European Elections”, as it comes two months before the European elections in June.

European Universities play a pivotal role in fostering students’ engagement in society as well as in making democracy work. Through collaborative initiatives and exchange programmes, European University Alliances provide students with diverse perspectives and opportunities to interact with various cultures, fostering a sense of global citizenship and active participation in democratic processes.

In this EYW edition, democracy will be in the center of the debate. Fernando Galán will be representing the Arqus Alliance in two sessions: “University engagement for European Elections 2024 and beyond” (14:30 to 16:00 CEST) and “Towards a European Degree” (16:30 to 17:30 CEST). The first session will involve university representatives invited by the European Parliament to work together for fostering European democracy in general and the European elections 2024 in particular. The last one will stimulate a discussion about the future of higher education and ensure that any advances in the implementation of the European Degree is youth-certified.
