Join the new ENLIGHT and Arqus Open Science Ambassador webinars!

The ENLIGHT and Arqus continue their joint Open Science Ambassador webinar series with two new sessions taking place in October and November 2026. The webinars provide a space for researchers, academic support staff and members of the Open Science community to exchange experiences, discuss challenges and explore practical approaches to making research more open and reproducible.

The series aims to identify and discuss obstacles and reservations surrounding the adoption of Open Science, while presenting good practices and experiences that can help overcome these challenges. Previous sessions have brought together participants from both Alliances to discuss topics including Open Science networks, how to get started with Open Science, and approaches that can support Open Science practices in different disciplinary and institutional contexts.

Coordinating the dissemination of Reproducibility in the Netherlands

The next session, the 12th ENLIGHT and Arqus Alliance Open Science Ambassador webinar, will focus on the dissemination of reproducible research practices in the Netherlands.

Reproducibility is a core principle of Open Science, supporting the credibility, transparency and cumulative development of research. However, reproducible practices are not yet embedded consistently across the research landscape.

In this webinar, Dr. Michiel de Boer will highlight examples and share experiences from the Dutch Reproducibility Network, exploring how reproducibility can be communicated more effectively and embedded within research communities and institutions.

The session will include a presentation followed by a discussion and exchange of experiences, offering participants an opportunity to reflect on how reproducibility can be promoted in their own research and support environments.

The problem with closed research, and the challenges of open

The series will continue in November with its 13th ENLIGHT and Arqus Alliance Open Science Ambassador webinar, addressing the challenges associated with closed research and exploring how Open Science approaches can contribute to more cumulative research.

Under the title “The problem with closed research, and the challenges of open”, Dr. Dermott Lynott will discuss some of the issues that can hamper the development of cumulative programmes of research. The webinar will also explore ways in which open research approaches can help address these challenges and strengthen the accumulation and sharing of scientific knowledge.
