Maynooth University is pleased to invite colleagues from across Arqus to participate in its 2026 English for Specific Academic Purposes (ESAP) summer programmes, designed specifically for academic and professional staff working within the alliance.

Building on the success of the ESAP initiative since 2023, the Maynooth University (MU) School of Modern Languages, together with the MU Arqus Office, is expanding the participant experience through a new suite of support and networking opportunities for Arqus colleagues attending the programmes this summer.

ESAP programmes for Arqus staff

Three specialised programmes will be offered in summer 2026:

ESAP1: Improving English-Medium Educational Practice (10–21 August 2026)

ESAP2: Advanced English for the EMI Classroom (10–21 August 2026)

ESAP3: English for Professional Services Staff at Universities (20–31 July 2026)

The programmes are tailored to support both academic and professional services staff in developing their English-language communication and professional practice within an international university environment.

Participants can register through the MUApply platform. Full programme information and application guidelines are available in the digital brochures for each course.

New Arqus add-on services for participants

As part of the 2026 edition, registered participants from Arqus universities will also benefit from a range of dedicated support services coordinated by the MU Arqus Office.

These include:

Pre-departure support and virtual guidance

Participants will receive access to a comprehensive pre-arrival handbook, regularly updated FAQs, and a dedicated virtual Q&A session focused on practical and non-academic matters related to their stay at Maynooth University.

The live online Q&A session will take place on 23 June 2026 from 11:00 to 12:00 (Irish Standard Time).

Dedicated Arqus welcome session

For the first time, the orientation programme will include a special Arqus welcome session, offering participants the opportunity to meet fellow colleagues in an informal setting upon arrival at Maynooth University.

Networking opportunities with MU staff

The MU Arqus Office will organise networking sessions connecting visiting participants with Maynooth University staff counterparts, creating opportunities for exchange, collaboration, and professional dialogue.

Staff-to-staff engagement opportunities

Interested participants will also have the possibility to connect directly with MU colleagues working in similar professional areas, encouraging the sharing of best practices and the development of long-term professional relationships across the alliance.

In short, the ESAP programmes offer an excellent opportunity to strengthen English-language skills, exchange experiences with international peers, and become part of a vibrant intercultural learning community within Arqus.
